7 Steps How Become an Expert Teacher in Crafts

Teaching others crafts - whether it is a class of kids or a group of seniors, can be very satisfactory.

In order to be a successful craft teacher there are 7 steps involved:

  1. Preparation.
Be prepared. Choose your craft project carefully. There is a difference between a group of kids and disabled seniors so pick your craft project accordingly.
Know all you can about what you are going to teach = your craft project. Have craft samples and necessary materials, equipment and tools.

  2. Recognition
Know your audience, and the level of their skills: physical and intellectual.

  3. Orientation
Make it easy for your students to get a clear idea of what they are going to be taught, and how. Show a sample of the finished craft.

  4. Presentation
Show the whole procedure of making the craft. Go through the process step by step, explaining each step thoroughly as you do it. Show any little tricks that may help your students to create the craft easily and successfully.

  5. Practicing
Here your students actually go through the procedure of creating the craft. The best way is you demonstrate each step first, then students follow until each step is done correctly.

  6. Summary
Sum up everything you have taught. Answer questions. If necessary go through the process again.

  7. Find new craft projects
This is the most challenging one. Where do you get new craft ideas all the time? Well, it depends if you have lots of time you can go around the Net and you will find many free craft projects and ideas. Or, if you prefer to be efficient you buy one of those inexpensive craft packages which will give you plenty of ideas for months to come.
